About the Game

Click, Call, Chaos is a short satirical narrative game about the maddening experience of trying to organize a cultural event in a small town strangled by public bureaucracy.

You play as a volunteer from a local association in Sintra, Portugal, tasked with planning the traditional "Festa da Terrinha." But the real challenge isn’t getting a stage or performers , it’s getting the right paperwork, dealing with red tape, and being ignored by your local municipality.

This is not a power fantasy. It's a game about wasting time, waiting, writing polite emails, being misunderstood, and doing everything “by the book” only to be told the book was outdated.

What To Expect

  • A short but frustrating simulation (~20-30 mins)

  • Emails, phone calls, taskboards and calendars (your only tools)

  • Based on real experiences from artists and organizers in Sintra

  • Designed to feel slow, inefficient and unrewarding


Why This Game Exists

This game was created as part of a master’s project in Critical Game Design (Lusofona University). It is a politically charged, socially critical experience designed to highlight the emotional and systemic impact of inefficient public institutions, especially on cultural development. Inspired by games like Papers, Please and Not Tonight, Click, Call, Chaos focuses less on survival mechanics and more on the emotional toll of invisible, administrative obstruction.


How to Play

  • Use your mouse to interact with the interface

  • Write and send emails to different departments (keyboard)

  • Track your tasks via a taskboard

  • Wait. Then wait some more.

  • Receive vague replies. Try again.

  • Try to keep your cool.

  • Language: Portuguese (EN version coming soon)


Notes

This is a prototype, not a polished release. Expect bugs, missing features, and unfinished polish. The goal here is emotional clarity, not mechanical elegance. Feedback is very welcome.

It is important to clarify that this project does not aim to personally attack the municipality’s employees, but rather to question the processes and structures that hinder effective decision-making and negatively impact the cultural and social life of the community.
