Description

This asset pack is a complete, layer-based 2D male character generator. It includes both the modular pixel art sprite sheets (4-direction walking loops) and a fully functional Unity UI & Customization System with Animations and Sound Effects.

You can use the sprites manually in any engine, or open the included Unity project to immediately use the working character creator interface.

🎬 Note: An in-depth tutorial video demonstrating how to interact with the system, import your own custom sprites, create Scriptable Objects, and add new categories/presets is currently in production and will be added here soon.



How It Works (Layer-Based Modularity)

All files are exported as transparent sprite sheets with identical canvas dimensions (128x64). To build a character, simply stack the transparent layers on top of each other in your game engine of choice (Godot, Unity, GameMaker, RPG Maker, etc.) using the following order:

  1. Skin/Body ➔ 2. SpecialSets ➔ 3. Pants & Shirts & Shoes ➔ 4. Hair ➔ 5. Face/Eyes/Mouth/Eyebrows

Technical Specifications

  • Individual Frame Size: 32x64 pixels.
  • Sprite Sheet Dimensions: 128x64 (4 frames wide x 1 direction tall).

The 5-Color Keyed Palette Shader (Unity Package Only)

Instead of using thousands of separate recolored sprite sheets, the system uses a custom palette-swapping shader. The shader currently supports up to 5 specific color keys on your base sprite sheets to procedurally map out shading layers and highlights at runtime (with this only 1 sprite is required to change it into multiple colors):

  • Zone 1 (#FFFFFF) – Target key for the base primary color layer.
  • Zone 2 (#CCCCCC) – Target key for mid-tone shading and secondary gradients.
  • Zone 3 (#999999) – Target key for deeper shadow layers.
  • Zone 4 (#666666) – Target key for accent lines and internal details.
  • Zone 5 (#333333) – Target key for darkest outlines and structural borders.


The Asset Automation Pipeline (The Editor Folder)

These tools extend the Unity Inspector to handle all asset importing, slicing, and data mapping automatically. They keep your workflow fast and scale seamlessly as you add more content:

  • ProSpriteSlicer.cs (Recursive Batch Slicer) An editor window tool that recursively scans a selected folder and batch-slices every sprite sheet inside it according to your custom dimension preferences. This saves you from having to click and manually slice hundreds of sprite sheets one by one.


  • AssetEditor.cs (Automatic Sprite Loader) Takes your sliced sprite sheets and instantly loads them directly into their corresponding  data references in seconds.


  • CharacterManagerEditor.cs (Database & Layer Mapper) Automatically populates the master database for all customization style Scriptable Objects containing your category sprite textures. It also features a dedicated map utility to instantly link the display sections of each direction (Front, Back, Left, Right) for every active rendering layer (Body, Hair, Clothes, etc.).


  • UIManagerEditor.cs (One-Click UI Populator) Removes manual "drag-and-drop" UI mapping entirely. With a single click, it scans your UI categories and automatically generates and populates the Style Buttons and Color Presets across your entire canvas hierarchy.


Updates & Pixel-Perfect Support

  • (Technical Note)
    The package includes a secondary body variant structure. This specific body layout is intentionally designed exclusively to pair with the Bag Special Outfit, because the bag outfit features unique layered animations that override standard movement frames, it requires this specialized body variant underneath to prevent visual clipping. As of right now, this secondary body layout is not meant to be displayed as a standalone naked base frame, it functions purely as a backend companion layer for the custom animated gear sets.
  • Future Content Updates: By purchasing the Paid Version, you get lifetime access to all future additions! I plan to expand this pack over time with new clothing, alternative hairstyles, and extra color palettes, all included for free in future updates if you buy the paid tier today.

  • Modifications: You may edit, recolor, or modify these sprites to fit your project's technical needs.

  • Restrictions: You cannot resell, redistribute, or repackage these asset files individually or as a compilation, even if modified.

  • Attribution: Credit is highly appreciated but not strictly required (e.g., "Character Art by Tiago Patricio along with a link to the page").
